Abstract

A comparative analysis of the deformation mechanisms in ferromagnetic metals with electromagnetic excitation of Rayleigh waves is performed and is show that the Lorentz force possible to disregard in performing quantitative estimates of the excited waves amplitude. Adequate to the real situation quantitative estimate of displacement amplitudes of material particles in the front radially propagating surface Rayleigh wave is given. Introduced and physically based a new in practical calculations of the transducer of electromagnetic type concept "wave characteristic" of inducer (the source of alternating magnetic field). An explanation for the experimentally observed fact of the influence of geometrical parameters of the inductor to the excitation efficiency of the ultrasonic waves at a given frequency is given.
